What is it about poop that many cultures find so appalling and denigrating? I really don't know. What I do know however is that I used to suffer from the same strange behavior.
Let me share a story with you.
One time during my travels with Linda, we were Guided to camp somewhere close to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Now at that time I wasn't much of a camper at all. As a matter of fact, I used to be of the idea that Nature was a nice thing to visit every so often as long as there was a nice dwelling place with an appropriate restroom nearby I could stay in. Anything less than such accommodations was brutal and inhumane as far as I was concerned. I can't tell you how many times I wondered what made people subject themselves to the deprivation of camping when nice hotels with comfortable beds and flushing toilets are so readily available...
Nevertheless, driven by the need to be 'obedient' to the 'Will of God' I obliged and so we found ourselves driving toward a nearby camping ground high in the mountains. To our surprise though, we found upon arrival that the park itself was closed for construction. Not knowing what else to do since it was getting late we decided to find a little place along the road where we could park and pitch our 'emergency' tent. Fortunately, we actually ended up in a nice little spot close to a flowing stream.
After setting up our tent, doing a little exploration, and having a few cans of something we finally went to bed, I mean ground...
As Life on Earth has it, the next day arrived as it always does and with it came a big dilemma for me... namely going to the restroom to do number two. The park was closed so I had no access to its restrooms and civilization was too far away to make it... What to do?
To be continued...
