Again, indoctrination would make it easy to take what we have learned about Joy
and Respect and make a false assumption. Which one? The one that would say
because Respect and Joy are related, it follows that to be Respectful one needs
to take responsibility for making others laugh and be happy. This is of course
not so.
Each person is responsible for their own Joy. Respect respects this (pun
intended).
Having said this, it is worth noting that walking in Respect creates an inner
condition which allows Father’s Presence to be actively Present. Father’s
Presence then facilitates others getting in touch with their own Divine Nature
and therefore inner Joy.
Three things to keep in mind about this are:
- one who desires Respect out of a need to please or help others misses the
point. The choice to live Respectfully is born out of a "Love of that which is
Right and a conscious Desire to live by this." This choice is not made for
others or because of others. This choice is made for and because of
Self.
- worldly conditioning would have a person who experiences Father’s Presence
not recognize the True Source of their experience. This causes them to make the
mistake of attaching that experience to either an external event or another
person. Thus, the utmost care must be taken by someone who chooses to walk in
Respect to remain unsympathetic to this.
- similarly to the second point, worldly conditioning would have a person who experiences Father’s Presence because of someone who walks in Respect mistakenly attach that experience to the person rather than recognizing the True Source of their experience. This again necessitates that someone who chooses to walk in Respect diligently remains unsympathetic to this.
Respect is, of course, the key here.
