Remember the improper association found in the dictionary between honor and
respect? Some time ago, I had the following conversation with one of my parents
who was upset because I was being "disrespectful" in their perception.
Parent: "the bible says that children must honor (respect) their
parents."
Me: "what about parents respecting their children?"
Parent: "that’s not in the bible."
I make reference to this conversation to point out the unspoken assumption that
respect is supposed to be a one way road - from the inferior to the superior,
but never from the superior to the inferior.
This one way street then generates the need in People to develop whatever sense
of superiority they can so as to justify their need to do unto others as it is
done unto them by their perceived superiors. No one likes to be at the short
end of the stick all the time… Thus we have the educated who scoff at the
uneducated, the wealthy at the poor, the beautiful at the ugly, the elite at
the masses, the pure at the impure, the strong at the weak, the techies at the
primitives, the ones who ware name brand clothing at those who don’t, humans at
animals, parents at children, the unrighteous - unholy at People, and the list
goes on and on at nausea.
This kind of mentality of course, is to the benefit of those who want to
control and abuse us, for it creates a false sense of inequality and therefore
division / separation and self-justification.
