An interesting article
In my last posting I spoke of contracts and the false perception we have that all contracts are somehow binding. In the linked article, the author writes:
“Of all of the unfair aspects of this chain of events, advocates say the most galling is that, in many cases, consumers may not even be legally responsible for the debts for which they're being jailed. In fact, the debt may not even be theirs…”
I also said that many times the answer is also provided when you know to look for it. Here is another quote from the article:
“Often, says Rhinegold, the collector doesn't even have the paperwork that would prove that existence of the debt. In these cases, the judge will dismiss the case against the debtor. All the debtor had to do was show up for their day in court.”
That is to say, one could ask for the paperwork showing the existence of the debt or the contract that presumably makes one liable. This is not just a letter stating the false claim, but the actual original paperwork. I have read in the past several months that homeowners have also successfully used this method to stop the false claims against their property.
Just thought it would be beneficial to make this observation before I continue with what will be one of the last (perhaps 3) postings on this exploration of tyranny. Frankly, I’m looking forward to moving on.
