The fourth property I visited is owned by an artist who has acquired
worldwide recognition in his field. After several years of fame and fortune, he
recognized that this kind of life was leading him astray and retired to the
land to live a simple life.
Now that he is on his own, he has found his 40 acres to be simply too large.
Thus, he is preparing to go back close to family / relatives where he envisions
himself participating in the family farm life while receiving some of its
bounty in exchange for his contribution. He explained to me that he has
realized he needs to spend less time mowing the lawn and more time enjoying
community life which is sharply hampered by the terrain in which his current
property resides.
As far as I know, this man never raised animals for money. His past success has
allowed him to live off the interest on his savings while supplementing as
needed with many of his creative ventures.
