This farm is owned by a couple and it is, from my perspective, right out of
a "Mother Earth News" magazine. This couple Desires to be as "green" and self
sufficient as possible while following their calling. Of their 14 acres, they
have found only 4 to be needed.
In these four acres they have goats and sheep, a vegetable garden, an intensive
orchard, chickens and ducks, a geodesic greenhouse, rain barrels for rainwater
containment, rabbits, and, of course, their self built house and barn. The
other 10 acres are made available to neighbors for horse grazing.
All in all, they estimate they have about 200,000 dollars invested in their
property.
This couple does not raise animals for money, thus, the needed income is
obtained from the husband’s work, which in this case has become so important,
that both are willing to leave the land and return to the city. It was becoming
too much work for her to take care of the entire operation while her husband
was away.
