From the New Century Dictionary published in 1938 by the D. Appleton-Century Company, I get the following:
Culture: [< colere: see cult]
- The action or practice of cultivating the soil
- The raising of plants or animals, esp. with a view to their improvement
- Cultivation of micro-organisms
- Development or improvement by education or training
This is quite a mouthful of concepts packed into one single word. We have the cultivation of soil, the raising of plants and animals so as to improve them (read genetic engineering), the cultivation of micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus, and so on, and then we have education and training.
Apparently all goes hand in hand.
I guess you could say this explains why the “great cultures” of this world are engaged in agriculture, genetic engineering, proliferation of micro-organisms, and education. That is what “cultured” nations do. The more a nation destroys its land and soil through agriculture, the greater its capacity to genetically modify plants, animals, and yes, People, the greater its capacity to cultivate and spread mold, fungus, bacteria, viruses by creating the conditions upon the land and People that encourages their growth, and the higher the indoctrination of “its” People through education, the higher its cultural level is.
So that’s it! The unrighteous - unholy and all those who support them have been trying to increase our cultural level! They have been trying to refine and enlighten us! And we just thought they were trying to kill and destroy us… silly us…how can we be so brute and not understand their “good intentions” toward us?… they are just trying to make us better… you think… maybe?… that’s maybe why every so often they release a great plague upon the Earth? Just to increase our cultural level and educate us in their ways?
To paraphrase a famous astronaut: “Houston, they have a problem!” Someone lost his marbles some time ago.
Perhaps it is time to “un-cult-ivate” ourselves...
