The progression of learning how to stop playing so as to become non to the
unrighteous / unholy, is well illustrated in the three experiences I shared in
my last entry.
All three villages where in the same area, same jungle, same conditions, yet
each living a completely different reality based on where their focus
was.
The first village had succumbed to accepting a culture alien to their ways of
life. This was symbolized by the presence of the school building in their
village. Having given away their True ways in exchange for what was alien to
them made it possible for disrepair, misguidance, ill health, malnourishment,
and poverty to set in. Having learned to look outside themselves for the
answer, they also became receptive to religious promises of deliverance from
all their ailments. It is very likely that People in this village will remain
trapped until the day they recognize that giving away their Abundance and True
Nature to those who trick them into doing so, leads only to poverty
indebtedness.
This is well illustrated by another experience I had during this visit. While
there, the priest was asked to visit a sick woman laying inside a hut. To my
surprise, the priest asked me to go with him so I did. Once inside, the priest
asked the woman a few questions and offered her aspirin. The woman accepted the
aspirin and took it. Soon thereafter, the priest gave me the remaining aspirin,
said a few more words, and indicated it was time to leave. Later that day,
after all had been said and done, the priest asked me if I had returned the
aspirin to the woman. I was certainly puzzled by his question. "Why would I if
it is yours?", I replied. Well, as it turns out, the aspirin actually belonged
to the villagers. All he did was get it from them and then offer some of it
back. Being unaware of this, I mistakenly assumed the aspirin to be a
"contribution of the church" and therefore belong to the priest.
Now, to the benefit of the priest, he did say he would return the aspirin.
However, the pattern is certainly recognizable. Take from the People what is
theirs, give some of it back, and then use clueless, but well intended People
like I was at that time, to complete the pilfering. Even though the villagers
probably felt good about the visit, the Truth remains that they were in greater
poverty when we left than before our arrival.
This story helps us recognize some of the necessary steps in our progression to
end our play:
- stop looking unto others / alien cultures for the answer
- stop giving our resources away
- stop being the clueless and well intended that make it possible for the unrighteous - unholy to pilfer People's resources
